§ 151.02. SIGN CLASSIFICATIONS; GENERAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS.

  • (A) For the purpose of this chapter, as herein regulated, signs are classified as follows: ground sign board, roof signs, wall bulletins, wall signs, and projecting signs.
    (B) No ground sign, roof sign or projecting sign erected or constructed before the passage of this chapter [May 9, 1988] shall be rebuilt or relocated, without being so rebuilt or relocated as to comply with this chapter and until after application to and approval of the Building Inspector for a permit to do so, and the issuance thereof by the Building Inspector.
    (C) No sign board or advertising display of any nature or description shall be installed, erected, maintained, or constructed in a manner as to obstruct any fire escape or exit, or the ingress to or the egress from any window or door opening thereon, or be at anytime attached in any manner, either directly or indirectly, to any fire escape.
    (D) No sign shall be placed upon town property, except by written permission from the Building Inspector, and then any such sign shall comply with all aspects of this chapter.
    (E) All electrically illuminated advertising displays with exposed tubes or terminals shall be erected or maintained in such manner that the exposed tubing or terminals will be at least nine feet above the established grade, except where exposed tubing or terminals are properly protected in an approved manner.
