§ 33.03. POWERS AND DUTIES.

  • (A) The Metropolitan Board of Police and Fire Commissioners shall have at least the powers prescribed by IC 36-8-9-4, and any amendments or additions thereto.
    (B) In addition, the Metropolitan Board of Police and Fire Commissioners shall have the power conferred upon it by IC 36-8-3-4.1 to act as the safety board pursuant to that statute and for the purposes contained in it, and any amendments or additions thereto.
    (C) The Town Council designates the Metropolitan Board of Police and Fire Commissioners to administer agility and aptitude testing to applicants for positions with the Police and Fire Departments of the Town, pursuant to state law.
    (D) The Metropolitan Board of Police and Fire Commissions shall have the responsibility for making promotions in both the Police Department and the Fire Department, as well as the responsibility for making recommendations for hiring pursuant to all federal, state, and local statutes, rules and regulations.
    (E) The Metropolitan Board of Police and Fire Commissioners shall, in addition, have the disciplinary powers concerning the Police Department conferred upon it by the various statutes of the State of Indiana; but not limited to IC 36-8-3-4 et seq. and any amendments thereto.
